Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for details.

A high-ranking official stated the incident left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
