Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party access locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
